Cross-Selling Tools in CS-Cart: the Buy Together Add-on

Cross-selling means suggesting related products to customers. Merchants use cross-selling techniques to sell additional useful products to their customers.

CS-Cart offers four built-in cross-selling tools. In this article, we’re going to tell you about one of them—the Buy Together add-on.

Buy Together Add-on

The Buy Together add-on allows you to group related products into a bundle and offer a discount for the bundle. For example:

Buy Together Example

The screenshot shows the add-on in action. A customer is looking for a new hiking backpack. Perhaps he or she is going on an overnight hike. Offer a new sleeping bag as well, and give a discount for the bundle. As a result, the customer gets a new set of camping gear at a lower price, and you increase your online sales.

For instructions on setting up the Buy Together add-on, refer to our Knowledge Base.

I find it odd that you are highlighting the Buy Together Addon. In my opinion it is one of the most underdeveloped addons. It has so much potential, but the current addon is almost useless. It is confusing to customers and doesn’t really accomplish the true create a package design. In my opinion it needs to be completely rewritten and merged with the discontinued product configurator.

Something like should be the default for cs-cart. I hate that your software is not innovative anymore and you rely on third party companies to add features that should be in a professional shopping cart software by default. It seems cs-cart developers have gotten lazy lately.

The Buy Together add-on allows a merchant to offer additional products with a particular product. It’s up to a customer whether to buy a bundle at a discount or a single product from the bundle at full price.

The Product Configurator add-on was used to create a single product of several components. For example, a customer could choose all necessary components to build a PC base unit and buy them as a single product.

These two add-ons cannot replace each other, because they were designed for different purposes. Unfortunately, we are not supporting the Product Configurator add-on anymore.
