Lesson 16. CS-Cart Design — Layouts. Part 2

We are going to overview how layout pages work in CS-Cart small business shopping cart.

Previously we spoke about blocks and containers that compose the structure of layout pages of the web store system and therefore the structure and look of the storefront. Now it is time to discuss layout pages.

A layout page represents either a certain type of storefront pages, or a specific storefront page like checkout or cart pages.

To edit the desired layout page simply click on its title. The Add layout page tab is used to add a new custom page. Set up a separate layout page for a category or a product, or for a completely new section of the storefront. It is possible to add as many layout pages as needed.

As well as adding new pages the properties of the default ones can also be edited. For this purpose the gear icon on a tab of the selected layout page is used. Administrators can also delete layout pages through the editing pop-up, they just need to click the trash can button at the bottom of the pop-up window. This action can not be reverted, so be careful.

By the way, it is impossible to delete the default layout page of the online shopping cart system because it determines the top panel, header, and footer of the storefront. As you will see in the video other layout pages only inherit these sections. But they can be set individually on each separate layout page.

Want some more customization in your open source shopping cart? Then the Layouts tab is the thing you need. This tab can be found at each separate store page in the Admin panel. It allows administrators to change block settings, of separate layout pages, add specific content to blocks, and turn them off and on.

That’s it about layout pages and layouts in general in CS-Cart shopping cart package.
