Lesson 8. CS-Cart Appearance Settings — Part 2
This is another settings guide this time dedicated to appearance settings of CS-Cart ecommerce shopping software solution. In the second part of the guide we speak about Customer Settings. They determine the usability of the storefront and other settings related to customers.
Frontend default language is the default language of the storefront of your web store builder software. It is recommended to set it in correspondence with the main language of the target audience. The language is changed at the top left corner of the storefront.
The next three settings basically do one and the same thing. They set the number of objects displayed on a page of the storefront.
The first is used for pages with customer orders, the second — for pages with products, and the third — for any other pages with objects. For example, general information pages. Number of columns in the product list. The number of columns that is used to arrange products on a product list page. This setting is actually determines the general look of category pages on a storefront. Pictures get resized when the number of columns is changed. This way products can be displayed in a more detailed way. Pay attention, that this option applies to the Grid layout only.
The next three settings are about taxes in your ecommerce site builder software.
Estimate taxes using default address on cart/checkout pages. If this setting is enabled, customers that do not specify address will see the taxes calculated according to the default address. The default address is set at the general settings of CS-Cart online web store software.
Display prices with taxes on category/product pages if the method of calculating taxes is based on a unit’s price. With this setting enabled the tax amount is automatically added to the base price, and on a storefront customers see the price that is actually a combination of the base price and a product tax. This setting applies only to category and product pages.
Display prices with taxes on cart/checkout pages if the method of calculating taxes is based on a unit’s price. This setting does exactly the same thing as the previous one but applies only to cart and checkout pages.
The next thing is Show number of available products. If this is enabled the product’s quantity is displayed at the detailed product’s page.
Display mini thumbnail images as a gallery. It organizes product thumbnail images in to a gallery on a product detailed page.
Use 'Value changer' for the Quantity field sounds complicated but actually value changers are these tiny plus and minus buttons next to quantity field on the detailed product page.
Display the 'Pagination section' on the top of the listed object. Adds a pagination bar at the top of a product list. Can be easily spotted when visiting categories on a storefront.
The next setting is the Default image previewer. The image previewers are scripts that activate when a customer hovers mouse over a big picture of the product on a detailed product page.
Product detailed page view. This setting determines the general look of the product detailed page. Here are two options: default template and the big picture. Default template makes emphasis on a general information while the Big picture displays the product look in full details.
The Display product details in tabs setting. This is a convenient way to organize information on a detailed product page. Tabs divide information into groups. For example, description, features, characteristics, and so on. Tabs are created and managed at Design → Product tabs section.
The last one for today is Display Track my orders section. This setting activates a small bar at the My account section. With this bar a customer can track orders by order ID or email. That’s it about appearance settings that are used on the storefront of CS-Cart online store system.
