CS-Cart Store Import Add-on


Today I would like to share some information about the CS-Cart Store Import add-on, which is to be used for importing data from CS-Cart 2.2.4 or 2.2.5 to CS-Cart 3.0.2 (of the same edition) as well as for importing CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 Professional and Community stores to CS-Cart Ultimate as additional storefronts.

This add-on is included by default in CS-Cart 3.0.2 and can not be obtained separately from the distribution.

How it works

What it basically does is import the database from an existing store (powered by CS-Cart 2.2.4 or 2.2.5) to a CS-Cart 3.0.2 installation.

In case of using the add-on in CS-Cart 3.0.2 Professional, Multi-Vendor or Community, it will overwrite all the existing store data (if there is any) in this CS-Cart 3.0.2 installation with the imported content.

If you use the Store Import add-on in CS-Cart 3.0.2 Ultimate, the data (only from CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 Professional and Community editions!) will be imported to a separate storefront, which will be created automatically. Thus, you can import as many CS-Cart Professional or Community stores as you have to a single CS-Cart Ultimate 3.0.2 installation (you may need to acquire additional storefront licenses for your CS-Cart Ultimate).

UPD: There is currently no way to directly import data from CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 Community Edition to CS-Cart 3.0.2 Ultimate Edition. This issue will be solved in one of the future releases. Take our apologies for the inconvenience.


Important: Before you start the import see how much space the existing CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 installation takes on your server hard drive. Make sure you have at least twice as much free space left!

Now follow these steps:

  • Install CS-Cart 3.0.2 to a separate destination on the same server as you existing CS-Cart 2.2.4 or 2.2.5 installation. You can find the detailed installation instructions in the installation guide.
    Please consult with your system administrator or contact our support service if you are not sure about this step.
  • Enter the admin panel of the newly installed CS-Cart 3.0.2 and go to Administration -> Add-ons;
  • Find the Store Import add-on and click on Install:

  • The add-on will be installed within a few seconds. Now go to Administration -> Store Import;
  • Enter the server path to the existing CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 store. It is the path where your existing store is installed on the server. For example, on UNIX-based systems it should look something similar to ‘/var/www/examplestore’, and something like ‘C:/examplestore’ on Windows. Please ask your system administrator if you are not sure where to find this path!
    Click the Validate path button:

  • If you have entered a valid store path, you will see the Expert settings section. Be careful modifying values in this section! If you are not sure, do not change these settings! UPD: The Storefront URL and Secure storefront URL parameters are displayed for CS-Cart Ultimate only. Unlike Ultimate all other editions provide only 1 storefront, so the parameters are useless.Store Import Step 1
  • Click the Import button;

The import process will start. The progress will be indicated in real time. When the process is finished the data from the specified CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 installation will be imported to the current CS-Cart 3.0.2 store.


As the process above requires having a separate CS-Cart 3.0.2 installation, after the successful import the old CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 must be removed or closed for public access until you are sure you no longer need the software files and database. It is illegal to use both CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 and CS-Cart 3.0.2 having one license.

If you would like to replace your existing CS-Cart Professional installations with one (or several) CS-Cart Ultimate installation, buy an Ultimate license (if you have not yet), make the import using the instructions above and then contact CS-Cart team to replace your CS-Cart Professional licenses with Ultimate storefronts.

    I have entered the store path, the Expert settings section appeared, but Storefront URL was missing. Started the Import. Process dialog appeared. But nothing was imported.

        I am facing the same problem, the last picture above shows +2 fields (the first 2) which are not there when I am using it!!!

        and when I lunch the process it dissappear when it reach cscart_logs!!

        and nothing changed at the new store

        what I should do?!

          Dear Sadeq,

          The Storefront URL and Secure storefront URL parameters are not supposed to be displayed for non-Ultimate editions of CS-Cart.

          Still, the import should run all right.

          You should create a ticket in the Help Desk and provide the support specialist with all the necessary access information to your server.

    Hi Eddy,

    The options are to move your 2.2.5 installation to another directory (see the manual in our Knowledge Base), e.g. ‘/var/www/my_old_store’, and then install the new 3.0.2 store into your web server root (the same way your current store is installed).

      Hello Liam,

      The add-on is distributed only as a part of the CS-Cart 3.0.2 distribution and cannot be purchased separately.

      So you first should update your 3.0.1 store to 3.0.2 and then use the add-on.

    I have installed the v3.2 on my server under a new sub directory called “newstore”
    I used the store import tool to import from v2.5 and I think it imported the data. I’m not sure everything got imported though.I do not see my subscribers in the control panel for one example, but I do see my orders.
    When I open my new store front I get an error message “Error_occurred” My new store is not displayed.

      Hi Jim,

      Please add the following line to your config.local.php file (in your store installation root):

      define(‘DEVELOPMENT’, true);

      This way you will see a detailed error report when you open the storefront instead of just an Error_occurred message.

      Provide us with the output you see on the storefront page, so we will be able to found out what the problem might be.

    I have the same problem as Jim. It appears as if the import goes fine, but then when you open up the Products tab in the administration area, or visit the store front, all I get is a white screen with “Error_occurred”

    after everything import done, should i continue to use the domain of original v224 or we have to use a new domain ( of CS3)

      It’s up to you. You can take your previous store domain (it should be closed for public access as soon as you finish moving to the new store) or move to a separate domain if you so wish.

        how to get the v224 domain to cs3? as i understood, the cs3 firstly is installed under another domain, for example a subdomain, right?

          The best way to make your fresh CS-Cart 3.0.2 installation use the previous store domain is to actually move the new installation to the old place. You can find a guide on our site. It’s also a good idea to back up the old installation before actually moving the files and folders.

          Please request assistance from our support team if you experience any troubles with importing data from CS-Cart 2.2.4/2.2.5 to 3.0.2 or moving the installation to another directory.

            but as for the path, in my hosting, it is public/html/xxx, is it the same thing that you mentioned about in your post when importing the v224 to csv302. thank you

              Yes, exactly, in the post the store installation path is referred to as “/var/www/examplestore” (the second screenshot).

    I did succeed to upgrade my cs-cart to version 3.
    And then I did import all of my previous data by Store import addon.
    But I could not find my storefront afterwards.Before importing data, my storefront showed demo in Version 3. But now nothing appears. It shows just “SELECTED SKIN NOT FOUND. REPLACED BY FIRST FOUND”. And then I tried to follow it ,
    But it shows same message on the site even though I followed the instruction. Please let me know how to solve the matter.

      I don’t think we can help you without seeing what exactly goes on on your server. You should request some help from our support team and, if needed, provide them with all the necessary server access data.

      This line can be added anywhere in the file. For example, append it an the end of the file so it will be easier to find and remove it later.

    I have another problem, after i upgraded from v224 to v3, the product image has disappeared and so did the news and reviews.

      I understand your issue here, but unfortunately I can’t reproduce it.

      There’s hardly anything could be done without having a closer look at your particular configuration. If the problem is regularly reproduceable on your server, I suggest you leave a ticket for our support team.

      As a general advice I’d recommend you to clear your browser and store cache (if you have not yet).

    same here, images don’t import at all… if i put only one image in the ./images/backup
    and tailor the csv i can get it to import SOME info in image_links… but images is always empty or bad…
    I CAN’t seem to see how to just move existing images to cs3….nothing seems to work…

    found it… simply DONT check delete additional…

    move all src images into backup of destinations
    then remove all http links from csv….
    and retry.

    actually doesnt work… no idea always updates OBJECT but nothing happens in tables… no logs

    I ran an upgrade from v2234 to v3 and it looks a disaster.

    No images were copied, the skins weren’t copied, new blocks have appeared, the layout looks totally different and it is just a complete mess and unusable.

        I was supplied an updated file edition_to_ultimate.php as the file released appears to have bugs!!

        I ran the upgrade again with this updated file and still have the same issues. I now feel CS Cart are opting out of fixing this problem as they are now saying its a server issue and asking for payment to fix it.

        Looking at this thread, I am not the only person having these issues, so to say it is a server issue is a kop out.

    Hello !!!

    I really want to upgrade my cs-cart to version 3.
    My curent version is 2.1.3.
    It is possible using this add-on to import from 2.1.3 to 3.0.2

      Hi Toni!

      The add-on works only with CS-Cart 2.2.4 and 2.2.5, older versions are not supported.

      The solution might be to upgrade your store to 2.2.4 or 2.2.5 first (it is free if you have an active upgrade subscription), and then use the add-on to transfer the data to CS-Cart 3.0.2.

    I used store import from 224 to 302 and there are some questions:
    – The product images are not imported at all, “no image available” for all products. So I have to export images link from old store and import to new store?
    – All the settings like logo, header, footer, some pages are not included right? So we have to change again?

      Images should be imported, if they are not, there’s certainly something gone wrong. Unfortunately I can’t provide you with any recommendations, because I am not familiar with your store configuration.
      In this situation I can only recommend you to leave a request via Customer Help Desk for our support team to handle your issue. Note that the request will be free of charge if the problem is caused by a CS-Cart bug.

      Page design is not imported due to significant differencies in the block manager introduced in CS-Cart 3.0.2. So the design has to be modified manually.
      Still, all the store content should be imported — the Store Import add-on deals with the entire database.

    Has anyone got the Import to actually work properly?

    I’ve tried on a few different sites on different servers and have similar issues such as images, templates etc not getting carried over, so it doesn’t appear to be a server issue.

      The Store Import Add-on has gone through extensive testing before it was released. Basically, it could not have been released if the import did not work as expected.

      However, there’s still work to be done to improve the add-on stability, and we highly appreciate all the feedback you provide us with.

    Just imported my store from 2.24 to 3.0.2, everything has been fine until I tried to change the layout using BLOCK MANAGER. I tried to change the width of a grid, a popup windows says the change has been saved, but nothing changes when I refresh the page – the change is not saved at all. Checked the database in the sever, found that the width value is not changed in the database. Where am I wrong?

      This issue can not be investigated without having access to your server. All I can tell is that it seems to be a cache-related problem, unfortunately, it’s impossible to say anything more specific yet.
