CS-Cart 4 Beta is on!

Hello everybody,

Today, we are very proud to present to you the results of the hard work of the whole CS-Cart team—CS-Cart 4 Beta.

Yes, this is correct; the version number is 4, not 3.1.1 as we announced earlier.

The reason is, that during the development, it became obvious that this release was much more significant than a regular minor release. By jumping straight to version 4, we want to show that this is a major upgrade, with features never seen in CS-Cart before.

This version is a huge leap forward for CS-Cart. We are extremely happy to share all these new features with you.

UPD: April 30, 2013, Beta 2 has been released. The download links were updated.

Ultimate and Multi-Vendor Editions

CS-Cart 4 Beta is the first release to conform to the new edition policy.

That is, there are just 2 editions, Ultimate and Multi-Vendor.

CS-Cart 4 Ultimate is available in Free mode to replace the discontinued CS-Cart Community Edition.

CS-Cart 4 Ultimate with a single storefront is an extendible replacement for CS-Cart Professional.

Theme Editor

One of the killer features of this version is the builtin theme editor.

Now, you can customize your storefront in real time, and without a single line of HTML or CSS
code written!

Theme Editor

You can play around with colors, fonts, logos, and backgrounds, all in real time and previewed directly on your storefront.

You can activate the Theme editor mode via the CS-Cart 4 admin panel, under Design → Design mode. Note that in Ultimate edition you should select a store first.

New Admin Panel Look & Feel

In CS-Cart 4, we have greatly improved the administrator area:

  • Sleeker and more modern design
  • Rearranged menus for easier navigation
  • Sidebar with search and additional functionality
  • Onepage order creation and editing
  • Dozens of minor improvements

New Admin Panel Look & Feel

Thanks to the user feedback, we were able to make the CS-Cart admin panel better than it ever was.

Performance Boost

The new CS-Cart is dramatically faster than the previous version. By optimizing the storefront block management routine, we achieved a great performance boost. Compared to CS-Cart 2.2.5 and 3.0.6, CS-Cart 4 is up to 3x faster and uses less CPU.

CS-Cart 4 Performance Boost

Improved Installer

We have simplified the installer and added a convenient post-installation Settings Wizard.

The new CS-Cart installation process has just 2 steps, one of which is accepting the license agreement.

Right after the installation, you will be able to set up some general preferences of your store using a quick step-by-step Settings Wizard:

Settings Wizard

Suppliers Add-on

We received a lot of feedback and requests to add the suppliers functionality to the Ultimate and Multi-Vendor editions.

Now, we are happy to introduce the suppliers feature in both the Ultimate and Multi-Vendor editions as a special built-in add-on.

CS-Cart 4 Beta is the first CS-Cart version to provide an API to interact with a store.

We have extended the list of supported API objects since the last announcement, and now the following objects can be viewed and modified via the API:

  • Products
  • Categories
  • Users
  • Orders
  • Shipping methods
  • Payment methods
  • Statuses
  • Taxes

Developers are very welcome to read the docs with the detailed usage instructions and the object reference guide.

Add-on Adaptation

Despite some core changes in the CS-Cart architecture, the add-ons for CS-Cart 3.x are highly compatible with CS-Cart 4.

Refer to the adaptation guide for the detailed instructions.

Testing and Feedback

You are very welcome to download CS-Cart 4 Beta and test it. Please note that this is not a production-ready release; do not use it as a live store!

Also, note that CS-Cart 4 requires PHP version 5.3 or 5.4.

We are keen to hear any feedback. There is a floating Feedback button at the right edge of every page in the admin area; use it to send a message directly to the CS-Cart development team:

Bug reports are also much appreciated.

Looks great, but you should add multiupload images to products.
I cant go to design mode, I have a blank page

    • April 25, 2013 at 12:41

      Dear Karol,

If you are using Ultimate edition, you should choose a store before going to the design mode.

Multiupload for images is a nice feature, thanks for suggesting!

    • June 5, 2013 at 17:44

I agree this will be an awesome feature

  • April 24, 2013 at 18:29

Do you have a beta demo site?

  • April 24, 2013 at 21:15

Where can i see the changelog. I want to see which features or addons has been currently added

  • April 24, 2013 at 21:51

there will be professional or just Ultimate version and Multi-Vendor

    • April 25, 2013 at 13:03

      Dear Mariano,

CS-Cart 4 Beta is the first CS-Cart version that uses our new edition policy (announced in September, 2012.)

According to this policy, there are only 2 CS-Cart editions—Ultimate and Multi-Vendor. A single-storefront CS-Cart 4 Ultimate is an extendible replacement for CS-Cart Professional.

Also, CS-Cart 4 Ultimate is available in Free mode to replace the discontinued CS-Cart Community Edition.

I hope, I have answered your question. If there is anything else you want to know, please ask.

  • April 24, 2013 at 23:39

Is this installed somewhere that we can test?

    • April 25, 2013 at 18:19

What about a demo for the admin section?

        • April 29, 2013 at 02:09

From what I can tell, we’re not able to test the color picker in this demo.

          • April 29, 2013 at 18:23

            Dear Brandon,

Some features are disabled in the live demo to prevent chaotic changes.

In order to test-drive CS-Cart 4 Beta with no limitations, download and install it locally or on your server.

  • April 25, 2013 at 01:01

hello i have currently an ultimate licence with 4 storefronts. can i change these to new edition later? greetings

    • April 25, 2013 at 16:43

You will be able to upgrade your store to version 4 when it is released, if you will have an active upgrade subscription at the time.

  • April 25, 2013 at 05:29

Just tried installing it, followed the instructions but keeps getting 500 internal server error when trying to install. My server is running php 5.2, is this the problem?

  • April 25, 2013 at 12:48

Thank you so much for the kind words! We are happy that you’ve appreciated the new in CS-Cart :-)

Making grids draggable really goes against the layouting philosophy of solid grids with movable blocks within them.
Nonetheless, thanks for bringing up the point; we will see what can be done to make grid manipulating easier. If you have any suggestions, we are always happy to know them.

  • April 25, 2013 at 13:51

Konstantin, what about an upgrade? I bought cs-cart professional and I haven’t launched my store yet. My license is valid till october. So will I be allowed to download cs-cart 4 ultimate with 1 storefront when it’s ready? Will there be any upgrade script for version 3 owners?

    • April 25, 2013 at 17:09

      Dear Lesiu,

It will be able to import database from CS-Cart 3 Professional to CS-Cart 4 Ultimate with a single storefront. So you can run your store now and fill it with products; you will be able to import them to your new store.

You will not be able to import custom templates though, since there are some significant changes under the hood, so I would recommend you not to spend money on CS-Cart 3 customization now—better wait for CS-Cart 4 and customize it (e.g. with a built-in Theme editor.)

I hope, that was helpful. If you have any other questions, or I have not explained this one well enough, do not hesitate to ask!

      • June 20, 2013 at 19:52

Will the import tool transfer all data such as product features, language modifications, order history, customer data, etc.?

        • June 25, 2013 at 16:57

          Dear Brandon,

The import tool is planned to be able to import most store data, including features, order history, customer data, etc.

Some limitations may appear on Professional to Ultimate storefront import due to possible ID conflicts.

Anyway, our goal is to provide the opportunity to import as much data from CS-Cart 3 as possible.

  • April 25, 2013 at 18:26

What would be your recommendation if we were to start a deployment of a store today, in case our work would last 4-6 weeks? I mean, would you recommend to begin with 3.0.6 and upgrade it after, or would you recommend to begin with 4.beta and expect to have a stable release of this version 4 in such a time frame?

    • April 29, 2013 at 16:00

      Dear Marc,

I would recommend you to wait for CS-Cart 4 stable. This way you will not have to import the data from one store to another.

If it is an urgent matter, you can set up a 3.0.6 store now and then transfer the data to CS-Cart 4. In this case, I would not recommend you to make big customizations in your 3.0.6 store—some of them may not be possible to be ported.

  • April 26, 2013 at 09:02

Compared to other shopping cart, cs-cart is much better but some major functionalities are still need to incorporated …

    1) Product page optimization — This improve conversion rate
    2) UP-SELL & CROSS-Sell is missing – This will improve conversation rate and engage customers
    3) Compared to Magento Checkout, CS-Cart checkout missing sorting addresses
    4) Product options / Global options –> Default Option must be assigned. It would be much better if none of the options are selected so that customer pay much attention when customer select an option…
    5) Import / export are little expensive…. when there are many product Feature

Hope ….all above will address in CS-CART next version(S).

  • April 26, 2013 at 13:16

Although this is great news, it is disappointing that it is not fully compatible with 3. We are working on 3 CS Cart 3 eshops at the moment, and we had the hope to upgrade seamlessly to the next version. We use custom templates and custom addons.

That’s a real pity, CS Cart team.

At least you should “warn” your customers in order to schedule their work.

Do you have at least an estimated ETA for the stable release. It has been months now for the new version to come up.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

    • April 29, 2013 at 16:40

      Dear Haris,

I see your point. Let me explain our view on the CS-Cart software evolution.

Our main concern is to make CS-Cart better with every release. To achieve that goal, we use of the latest technologies which, sometimes, are not compatible with their older predecessors. If there is a choice between making a step forward by using a more modern technology and sticking with the older one but keeping backward compatibility—we choose the first one. We believe that this is the only way we can keep CS-Cart software constantly evolving and improving.

Though, we always try our best to make the upgrades as error-free as possible.

Adapting custom add-ons from CS-Cart 3 to 4 should not be difficult with the add-on adapting guide.

And even though custom templates cannot be imported, in CS-Cart 4 you have much more freedom in customizing your storefront with our new Theme editor.

The scheduled release date for CS-Cart 4 lays in the beginning of this summer.

  • April 26, 2013 at 19:24

I agree with Haris; I was informed that the API would be compatible with the 3.x version. Isn’t this the case anymore?

    • April 29, 2013 at 16:43

      Dear Nico,

The API is first to appear in CS-Cart 4, which was formerly versioned 3.1.1. Sorry for the confusion.

CS-Cart 3.0.6 and older do not and will not support this feature.

      • May 1, 2013 at 21:50

        Hi Konstantin,

Oke, but can we upgrade our templates from a 3.0.6 easily to 4.x? We’re already started developing 2 (3.x-)Multi-store sites and I would make no sence if we had to start all over again because of the new theme editor.

        • May 6, 2013 at 11:22

          Dear Nico,

The templates from CS-Cart 3.0.6 will require special adapting in order to work in CS-Cart 4. It will be impossible to use the templates directly.

  • April 27, 2013 at 10:31

Can we still upgrade our store directly from 2.2.4 to 4.0.1?

Is there a new upgrade policy?

    • April 29, 2013 at 16:45

If you have an active upgrade subscription, then yes, you have the right to upgrade your store to the latest version.

Note that 2.2.4 is quite old, so you will not be able to upgrade it directly, via the Upgrade center in the admin panel.

You will be able to import the database, this should not be too problematic.

Custom templates and add-on from CS-Cart 2.2.4 will have to be adapted manually. You can contact our Custom development team and let them do the job for you.

  • April 27, 2013 at 12:51

Good work. I found a cloud_zoom folder in design / addons. But i can’t find the same folder in app. Are you going to add this addon? This plugin is not free as i know

    • April 29, 2013 at 17:04

      Dear Denis,

It’s nice you have spotted it! Yes, we plan to include CloudZoom in CS-Cart 4 as an add-on. We have already negotiated the necessary legal issues.

  • April 27, 2013 at 17:20

    such as :

    – CDN

    – easy editing invoice + slip shipping

    – Cron mailing Auto schedule time that has been setting since customer order to finishing payment

    Thank you

  • April 28, 2013 at 15:25

If we work with beta4 , can it be upgraded via panel or needs a new beta download on new releases… same goes for live.. can beta be upgraded to live ?

    • April 29, 2013 at 17:40

      Dear Frank,

Beta releases are intended for testing purposes only, so the possibility to upgrade CS-Cart 4 beta to stable was never planned.

When CS-Cart 4 final version is released, you will have to download it and install from the scratch.

  • May 3, 2013 at 20:58

how about the store import plugin can it import from 3.0.6 or earlier ? can we get this asap to test with real products ?

    • May 6, 2013 at 11:29

      Dear Frank,

It will be possible to use the Store Import add-on to import database from CS-Cart 3.0.6 to 4. The add-on is not yet available, but it will be in the future.

  • May 6, 2013 at 17:07

Hello. I have installed CS-Cart 4. Trying to create or edit a category or product, but there is just a blank page. In the customer area, a blank page is shown on product selecting, as well.

  • May 7, 2013 at 02:50

cscart 4 version has other cache system?

    or has to wait ?

  • May 7, 2013 at 06:13

It appears there are two frontend skin directories, var\skins_repository\basic & design\frontend\skins\basic. Which one should we use for customization? Thanks

    • May 7, 2013 at 18:34

I tested it. The templates in use are design\frontend\skins\basic. I’m guessing the var directory is for installation maybe.

    • May 8, 2013 at 14:57

      Dear Wilson,

Long story short, you should modify the files in the ‘design’ directory.

The ‘skins_repository’ directory is used to hold the skins to be installed. When a skin is being installed, CS-Cart automatically copies the default skin and moves the new files to the ‘design’ directory, overriding the default ones.

  • May 7, 2013 at 17:51

Do you need to have purchased a version of CsCart in order to beta test? Also can the beta testing be done locally?

    • May 8, 2013 at 15:06

      Dear Donald,

You do not need to have a purchased CS-Cart version to download and test CS-Cart 4 Beta. You can install it locally or one a remote server—it is up to you.

      Happy testing!

  • May 8, 2013 at 15:37

Hello, we were planning on buying MV v3, when we noticed v4 is releasing soon. Wanted to clarify if we should wait for the version 4 and then start working on our project or should we buy v3 and then upgrade it?
In case, we should wait, then, when does v4 exactly release? accordingly, we’ll start our process.

    • May 10, 2013 at 11:56

I would recommend you to wait for the CS-Cart 4 final release. This is expected in June, so it’s not that long to wait.

  • May 8, 2013 at 20:00

Is there an SVN or GIT of these? It would be nice if we could keep the files updated more gracefully during beta.

    • May 8, 2013 at 20:03

We would like to disable CSS minification during testing. I tried the config.local.php array for $config[‘tweaks’][‘gzip_css_js’] = false and it does not disable minification for CSS.

    • May 13, 2013 at 12:10

      Dear Wilson,

There is no public repository available for the beta. We upgrade the downloadables to the latest version ourselves.

  • May 12, 2013 at 00:01

how can I purchase the Full Version of this Cart Script ?

  • May 13, 2013 at 12:21

    Dear Fabian,

Actually, CS-Cart does not load the full product list when viewing a category—the first chunk is loaded on the page load, all the next portions are loaded on demand, via AJAX (similar to how you have explained it.)

So it does not matter how many products you have in a category—only the ones that should be displayed are loaded, not the whole bunch at once.

There may be some problems with caching in your store. Please contact our support team, or report a bug.

  • May 13, 2013 at 12:29

Thanks for releasing the beta, we hope the final release will be in June as you hinted somewhere in the comments.

Do you have any news about the pricing of the new edition VS old edition?
(4.0.1 Ultimate with 1 storefront VS 3.0.x Professional)
This is important to know *before* the actual change, or we don’t know what to tell to our customers that ask for new CS Cart projects.

    • May 13, 2013 at 15:22

      Dear Luca,

The cost of one CS-Cart Ultimate license with one storefront will be $395, and each additional storefront license will cost $245.

CS-Cart 4 Multi-Vendor will cost a bit higher than now. The exact prices will be published on the release day. You can buy a CS-Cart license now to save money and download CS-Cart 4 when it is available.

  • May 14, 2013 at 23:07

    Beautiful work guys!

With the impeding internet sales tax legislation, where us American store owners will have to collect sales tax for 47 states, would you consider creating a report that show monthly sales total by state, along with the total tax collected?

  • May 15, 2013 at 10:50

Looks great! I am just curious about the supplier feature, what does it add exactly?

    • May 15, 2013 at 16:38

      Dear Jonathan,

      Thanks for the kind words!

The Suppliers add-on allows to assign different suppliers to products. This is useful when you sell products that are stored in different locations, with different shipping rates. By assigning a product to a particular supplier, you will be able to calculate shipping rates automatically based on the supplier location.

This is a long-awaited feature, which was missing in Ultimate and Multi-Vendor; we are very happy to present it now.

Can I buy v3 professional russian build and to use my license key for activate v4 ultimate (one storefront) later, when v4 russian buil is releasing ?

    • May 16, 2013 at 12:55

      Dear Alex,

Yes, you can buy a CS-Cart Professional license now to use it later with CS-Cart Ultimate 4 with 1 storefront.

Please note that the year-long upgrade subscription will start as soon as you purchase the license.

      • May 16, 2013 at 16:17

Can I use my key twice for one domain name: firstly – to activate v3 Pro, secondly – to activate v4 ultimate one storefront later?

        • May 17, 2013 at 16:06

          Dear Alex,

You will be able to use the same license to activate CS-Cart Professional and later activate CS-Cart Ultimate with 1 storefront, but not at the same time. As soon as you apply the license to one CS-Cart installation, it is forbidden to use it simultaneously on another.

I hope I have answered your question.

  • May 16, 2013 at 19:35

When CS-Cart Ultimate v4 Russian build will be available?

  • May 24, 2013 at 10:46

Currently barcodes are only generated per order. Having the order form (and backend) show a barcode for each product would allow for deeper warehouse integration (and e-ticketed event management). Any improvements on the barcode?

  • May 25, 2013 at 04:52

We were testing our customer’s website running CS-CART V.3 as an e-commerce platform on very high-end dedicated server. The database holds 10000 products, and loading time was 10 seconds at the beginning. CS-CART technical support looked at the issue, and improved loading time to 4-5 seconds, which is still unacceptable for e-commerce applications. The entire CS-CART problem is the inability to handle cache properly, or some other coding flaws you should seriously look into. The speed is vital. Will you be able to produce CS-CART V.4 by making it 10 times faster than V.3 ?

    • May 30, 2013 at 16:38

      Dear Alex,

In CS-Cart 4, we have fixed some serious performance-affecting issues. I cannot tell if it is exactly 10 times faster, but it surely is a lot faster.

As far as I understood, you are testing the website, so you are not at the production stage yet. Why don’t you just try the CS-Cart 4 Beta for yourself on this dedicated server?

  • May 25, 2013 at 19:03

Can we upgrade from v4 beta to final via the admin panel? I’m thinking about upgrading my install from v3 to v4 beta since my shop has rather low sales right now.

    • May 30, 2013 at 16:44

      Dear Denis,

It will be possible to import the database from CS-Cart 4 Beta to CS-Cart 4.0.1 stable.

The stable version is not very long to wait, maybe it will be better to import the database from CS-Cart 3 directly to the stable version of CS-Cart 4.

  • May 25, 2013 at 22:45

I currently use cubecart 4 and am leaving because of the poor seo. I feel like I have had to spend sooo much time modding the site for basic functionality. Their site says it has great seo.. Bull shiz at the end of every url there is a product id that you cant get rid of. I believe I will move to cscart soon. I would however like to see a list of sites running cscart. I currently do about 200k a year in sales on cubecart and cant wait to leave. Some coding mistakes in there clearly we made because they dont think their customers are capable of making more then 1000 sales a year. I discovered a bug where they had “people who bought this also bought” displayed. Rather than have its own database where it caches data, every time the page was opened it would querry the entire database of sales and build the page. Rather then fix it…. they commented it out.

    • May 30, 2013 at 16:50

      Dear Chuck,

It is very pleasant to know that you are considering to become our client. You are very welcome!

CS-Cart allows you to set up any SEO name for a product you like; we have even recently added support for non-Latin symbols. No product ID will be appended to a SEO name—it is up to you to decide how the URLs in your store should look.

CS-Cart is currently used by dozens of thousands of stores around the world. As a quick example from the top of my head, I can give you this short list of live CS-Cart stores.

If you have any questions regarding CS-Cart, do not hesitate to ask.

Hope to hear from you soon!

  • May 28, 2013 at 21:50

If I purchase the current version of Multivendor before the June release it is my understanding that I will have a lifetime license. If I then upgrade to the June release of version 4, will I still have a lifetime user license or will I be subject to the new licensing terms of the new version?

    • May 30, 2013 at 17:23

      Dear Straz,

If you purchase a Multi-Vendor license now and upgrade to CS-Cart 4 later, you will still have a lifetime license.

The new licensing terms apply only to those purchasing licenses after the CS-Cart 4 release.

      • June 5, 2013 at 18:01

So it looks like now is the best time to purchase a CS-CART license, just to be able to have a lifetime license. Purchasing a Lifetime License means i can upgrade to any future versions e.g. 4, 5, 6, 7 without any additional fees or charges?

        • June 7, 2013 at 13:18

          Dear Emile,

CS-Cart Multi-Vendor is already shipped only on the annual subscription basis; currently, lifetime licenses can be purchased only for CS-Cart Professional and Ultimate.

CS-Cart Ultimate lifetime licenses with a year-long free access to the software upgrades will remain even after CS-Cart 4 is released.

Let me clear it out: a lifetime license does not give you the lifetime access to the software upgrades; the upgrade subscription should be purchased separately.

As you purchase a license, you are granted a year-long upgrade subscription for free.

Having a lifetime license means that you can use CS-Cart software under this license with no time restrictions.

I hope, this explanation makes sense and will give you better understanding of our licensing policy.

  • May 30, 2013 at 15:02

Also I heard that I cant add new languages on ultimate only on professional and vendor.
Is this correct? Is it possible to upgrade cs3 professional to vendor instead of ultimate?

    • May 30, 2013 at 17:40

      Dear Avi,

As you may know, starting from CS-Cart 4 we will have only 2 editions—Ultimate and Multi-Vendor.

CS-Cart Ultimate will be available in the Free mode, which will not require a license and will provide a basic set of CS-Cart functions. In this Free mode, it will not be possible to add new languages.

In any of the other CS-Cart Ultimate modes (Trial or Full,) you will be able to have any number of additional languages you like.

For CS-Cart 3, it is possible to upgrade from Professional to Multi-Vendor, and we plan to provide such a possibility for CS-Cart 3 to 4 upgrades as well.

    Dear Avi,

Thanks! We have worked a lot on the admin panel in this version.

The skins from CS-Cart 3 cannot be used in CS-Cart 4 because of the whole new approach to storefront themes introduced in CS-Cart 4.

The add-on are though quite easy to migrate; we have published the migration guide to make it easier to adapt add-ons.

Whats the policy with Cs-Cart 4? Will i get free lifetime updates once i purchase a license of Cs-Cart 4 Multi-Vendor.

    • June 7, 2013 at 13:22

      Dear Emile,

      As I explained above, CS-Cart 4 Multi-Vendor will be purchasable on a year-subscription basis.

Such a subscription will give the permission to use the software for on year and have the access to all updates to be released during this period.

In order to continue using CS-Cart Multi-Vendor for another year, you will need to prolong your subscription.

Do you plan to continue the Searchanise add-on service. I don’t see it in version 4 anymore. I find Searchanise fast an accurate.

    • June 7, 2013 at 12:57

      Dear Alex,

Surely, the Searchanise add-on will be included in CS-Cart 4.0.1 final, we are working on the porting at the time.

    Trying out Cart4.

Using Custom shipping method it would really be good to get the comments section that would accept HTML.

Then a link could be put in to this section to forward a client to a shippers site and bring up the parcel details ( I do this already with another cart ) .

This would be a lot easier than trying to configure the system to accept another carrier. I have tried this before and it is really convoluted.

hi, i am running cs-cart on 2.x since 2010.. now i wanted to upgrade my store to 3.x so i bought the 135usd upgrade pack 2 days back. after i bought this upgrade i saw that 4.x is releasing soon,, so i decided to wait and upgrade to 4.x directly and not to 3.x

now will i be also able to upgrade to cs 4.x with same 1yr upgrade i bought??

    • June 16, 2013 at 15:26

      Dear Naman,

Yes, you will be able to download CS-Cart 4 right from you Help Desk account File area when it is released.

Note that it will be impossible to import data from CS-Cart 2.x to CS-Cart 4.0.1; the import tool is currently under development and will be added to one of the minor release following the 4.0.1 major release.

      • June 16, 2013 at 16:16

        1. when expected cs 4 release? its already mid of june.. how many more days??
        2. and when can expect import tool to release for 2.x to 4.x?

        • June 17, 2013 at 12:23

          1. We are doing our best to get it released as soon as possible. The release candidate is expected this week.
          2. Currently, I cannot give you any exact dates; the import tool will probably be included in CS-Cart 4.0.2 or 4.0.3.

          • June 19, 2013 at 23:51

Import tool? You mean we won’t be able to convert an existing 3.x site until two versions later?!

            • June 19, 2013 at 23:52

Sorry, I just read the posting again. Does the import tool only apply to 2.x versions?

            • June 20, 2013 at 17:29

              Dear Brandon,

Yes, that is correct, only it is not necessarily 2 versions, but more probably just 1—we hope to be ready to include it in 4.0.2 already.

              • June 20, 2013 at 18:36

So just to clarify, if I’m running the latest 3.x, I won’t be able to upgrade to 4.x until July! I had a launch set for June 28 based on the 4.x release and have planned everything around that because of the indications that it would be released. And in all my time with CS-Cart I never had to wait to upgrade!

                • June 25, 2013 at 17:10

                  Dear Brandon,

We will do our best to release the import tool as soon as possible. Please take our apologies for the inconvenience.

When we released CS-Cart 3, the import tool was also not included in the initial version and was added later in a minor release.

Every major release is a challenge, and we have to prioritize our tasks; polishing and stabilizing the software has usually a higher priority than import from previous versions.

I was getting ready to purchase cs cart pro and saw this in the blog. Can I download a trial of the 4.0 beta to play around with as a demo?

    • June 25, 2013 at 16:18

Sure, you are free to download the beta and play around with it. Just make sure not to run it on live stores—this version may be unstable.
