CS-Cart 4.2.1 Released: New Styles, E-mail Marketing, and More

We’re excited to introduce you to the major new version of our CS-Cart 4.2.1 and Multi-Vendor 4.2.1 software.

CS-Cart 4.2.1

The main features of this release are as follows:

  • Better usability of the admin panel

For instance, the sidebar is now automatically hidden when it’s not needed, leaving more space for useful content. We’ve also moved it to the right to keep the content alignment consistent when the sidebar is on and off.

  • SEO improvements: automatic 301-status redirects, Google Rich Snippet generation, and automatically normalized URLs (aka canonical URLs)
  • New E-mail marketing add-on with MailChimp and Mad Mimi integration.

You can now sync your store’s newsletter subscriber lists with your account at the MailChimp and Mad Mimi e-mail marketing services.

  • Two new styles for the Responsive theme.

Our Responsive theme makes CS-Cart stores look cool on all screen sizes and devices. In 4.2.1, the Responsive theme has become the default, and it has two new styles (so there’re six altogether).

Check the full list of changes in the changelog. The list is quite impressive and includes lots of fixes, apart from the above-mentioned additions.

It is also worth mentioning that we have moved to the Crowdin translation service, with a great interface, voting system, glossary, and other cool features.

Get it!

The upgrade should be available to all merchants with active upgrade subscriptions within a week. Also, you can download the new version from your Help Desk File Area.

Feel free to share your ideas about how we can improve our software on our UserVoice, , and report issues on the bug tracker.

As far as I see, you have version 4.1.3, so the upgrades to v4.1.4 & 4.1.5 should be available for you in case you have a valid upgrade subscription.
As for the upgrade to v4.2.1, it will be available within two days.

      Hello Sheila,

1/ how much and how long does it take for my store ( v.4.1.1 ) to upgrade to v4.2.1?

The price and the time of the upgrade depends on a number of factors (e.g., whether you have the upgrade subscription or any modifications).
Please, read our Upgrade Policy [https://www.cs-cart.com/upgrade-policy.html] to know more about the upgrade cost. About the process of upgrade you can read in our Knowledge base [http://kb.cs-cart.com/upgrade].
If you still have questions left, please, refer to our Helpdesk [https://helpdesk.cs-cart.com/index.php?dispatch=auth.login_form] and you will be consulted about the upgrade of your store.

2/ what do you mean by ” automatic 301 redirect”?

“Automatic 301 redirect” means that the redirect will happen automatically. You don’t have to make any changes to .htaccess manually. All you need to do is just to write the old URL and the new one. You can do it in your administration panel (the SEO add-on must be active): Website → 301 redirects.

      – will it still have 500 urls limit?

No, it has no limits in URLs.
