Lesson 35. Customers — Customers & User Groups

In this video we explain how to work with customer accounts and use user groups to their full potential in CS-Cart ecommerce website software.

When it comes to customers the administrator has lots of options here. The functionality on the customer's editing page allows administrators to view customer’s orders, act on behalf of a customer from the storefront — this feature comes in handy when customer wants to buy something but doesn’t have access to the store, so an administrator can do it for him, and the last one — view reward points on a separate page.

Now let’s take a look at the customer's settings. On the customer profile page there is an email and password that are used to log in to the store. Change Account type to turn your customer into administrator. Exempt a customer from taxes, and set a default language for him. After that there are personal details specified by customer during registration process or later on a profile page.

Returning to the customer’s page. Before we proceed with description we remind you that Billing and Shipping addresses may differ from each other, just move the radio button to fill them separately.

Add-ons tab contains all add-ons that influence customer’s profile. And finally there is the User groups tab.

User groups are used to distribute privileges among customers of website shop builder. As an example we are going to overview the default Wholesale group. This group provides privileges to those who buy products in batches. To assign a group to a customer is just a matter of several clicks. Just don’t forget to notify customers about this new promotion.

Generally speaking groups for customers do not work as groups for administrators in the e-commerce shopping cart program. Yes, there are privileges here, too. But this time it’s doesn’t look like a page with checkboxes. Customer privileges can be found all around a store. For example, the administrator can make so that certain would be available only for certain user groups and thus for certain users. User groups can be made hidden. This way they can be assigned secretly by the choice of the owner or the administrator.

Implementing user groups in the ecommerce software solution is a good way to raise both sales and loyalty of your customers.
